Dr. Gerry Ross

Dr. Gerry Ross graduated from the University of Toronto in 1971 and started his dental practice in Tottenham that same year. For over 30 years Dr. Ross has treated his patients with the most innovative tools that dentistry has to offer, including Air Abrasion, Diagnodent and Lasers. He provides tremendous support to the dental community, and is dedicated to learning and teaching the newest techniques in dentistry.

To date, Dr. Ross has given more than 100 courses on Air Abrasion around the world, lecturing to both individual dentists as well large audiences. He is also very much involved in research, performing original research on the Diagnodent, from which he published 4 primary articles.

Dr. Ross started lecturing on Lasers in 1992 and Low Level Lasers in 1995. He has given over 20 lectures on lasers, both Surgical and Low Level. He provides on-going support for all dentists attending the lectures, and still receives many phone calls from dentists who have attending his lectures and would like to consult with him regarding individual cases.

Dr. Ross’s contributions to the dental community have resulted in many certifications and awards. He holds advanced certification from the Academy of Laser Dentistry, which is the highest qualification available from this organization. A certification of this level requires superior knowledge of the scientific principles of lasers, clinical proficiency as well as the presentation of five clinical cases to the board. Additionally, Dr. Ross the president of the Ontario Laser Study Club and the Canadian Chapter of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, holds a fellowship from the American Society of Laser Medicine & Surgery and has been presented with a Service Award from the Ontario Dental Association.

In the future, Dr. Ross will be coordinating two experimental studies on Low Level Lasers and will be working with Jimmie Kert in updating his book, Clinical Laser Therapy. Furthermore, Dr. Ross has been asked by the Oral Health to write an article on Low Level Lasers, which is currently being prepared.

Alana Ross
Alana Ross graduated top of her class with an Honours Degree in Biomedical Science. Her studies focused primarily on the physiology and anatomy of the body, with emphasis on the effect of the organ systems to disease. One of the primary requirements of her degree was the effective communication of scientific facts and theory’s to individuals in the community, students and professors. She was frequently involved in workshops with physicians on case-studies and grant proposals.

Her work experience is diverse but has provided her with many valuable assets. She worked in a dental office for 6 years, which has provided her with a dental background, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with patients and doctors in a medical setting. She also worked at Toronto General Hospital during the SARS crisis, and worked interactively with the doctors and hospital coordinators to develop and effective and confidential way to admit patients.

In the past two years, Alana has done extensive research on laser literature, with emphasis on Low Level Lasers. She has worked hands-on studying the effects of the Low Level Laser on muscle relaxation, pain relief and wound healing. She can integrate the information she has obtained from literature and the individual case studies and communicate it effectively.
