Home Unit
The
Home Unit has been developed to offer a home care choice to patients
while maintaining careful outcome evaluation by the programming clinician.
The home unit can be rented out to patients offering the dentist a
return on investment within a couple of months.
The unit is lightweight and user-friendly using hands-free Superluminous
Diode (SLD) technology to administer phototherapy treatments in the
comfort of the patients home. The Home Unit acts as a supplement
to the treatment initiated by the Clinical Unit or the Portable Laser
and allows for continued pain relief, muscle relaxation, prevention
of swelling and wound healing. The SLD cluster has 49 light diodes
that provide light energy with a combination of infrared (880nm) and
visible red (660nm) diodes in pulsed or continuous waveform. The clusters
can be strapped on for hands-free application, allowing for unattended
treatment. The home unit is effective in relieving pain after oral
surgery, implants and TMJ treatment.
Phototherapy is a proven and effective treatment which increases local
circulation, accelerates wound healing, reduces pain, and decreases
inflammation/swelling, enhances immune response.
Protocols are programmed by the clinician, with a set number of days
for use to ensure it and the patient return to the clinic. The treatment
can be monitored by the clinician, who initially programs the Home
Unit and evaluates patient usage and outcomes upon return of the unit
to the clinic. The unit set-up is quick and easy, and makes preparing
treatments simple.
