What is a Low Level Laser?

The word LASER is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Each laser has different treatment abilities based on their unique wavelengths.

A low level laser is a laser which works on the cellular level. It cannot be used for surgical procedures; in fact many surgical lasers have low level lasers as their aiming beams.

A low level laser emits coherent and focused energy that penetrates deeply to stimulate target tissue.

What is a Superluminous Diode (SLD)?
An SLD, or superluminous diode, is a high powered LED (light emitting diode). An SLD delivers a non-coherent, broad beam producing evenly distributed visible red and infrared energy over a large area.

What is Phototherapy?
Phototherapy uses light energy from Low Level Lasers or SLD’s to elicit biological responses in the body. The effects of phototherapy on tissues are commonly referred to as biostimulation or biomodulation. Research has indicated the response of the body to light is more dependent on the wavelength rather than the source of light.
